Doña María Elena’s farm is located in Zarcero, a region best known for its dairy production. But she chose a different path: to diversify and begin growing coffee, committing to a project that over time allowed her family to build their own micromill, Monte Brisas, in 2011.
Today, Monte Brisas works with different processing methods, but this particular coffee is processed as a washed coffee to achieve the cup you have in front of you. Throughout all these years, Doña María Elena has been the driving force and guiding hand behind the project. She didn’t just diversify; she is actively involved in cultivation, processing, and even the marketing of the coffee.
During the busiest months, her son Luis, a schoolteacher, and his wife support her, caring for every detail and helping this family project continue to grow with dedication and warmth.
